Bison sign Skene - (FULL RELEASE)

The Paul Baldwin Agencies Basingstoke Bison delighted to announce the signing of experienced British defenceman Ricky Skene.

This will be the third spell for the America-born blue liner, who grew up in Britain, at the Herd, having played for the team in seasons 2004/05 and 2010/11.

After leaving the Bison he had a split year with Peterborough and Bracknell and then returned to Guildford, where he has spent the bulk of his career.

The 32-year-old is a very solid performer and with Matt Selby currently out injured, the Bison are also set to be minus him and fellow blue line Declan Balmer in early December, when Great Britain under-20s travel to the World Championships, so he is a great addition to the team.

Skene is coming in for a month and will play this weekend in the Herd's English Challenge Cup home double header against Chelmsford Chieftains and Wightlink Raiders.

Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “I have played with and against Ricky and I am thrilled with the pick-up.

“He knows a lot of the guys in the room so will fit in straight away and I look forward to seeing him play this weekend.”

Skene said: "I am really looking forward to playing for the Bison again."

Tickets for the weekend’s games are available from the Basingstoke Arena box office on (01256) 355266 or from the website.
