WEEKEND PREVIEW: Bison out to sting Bees

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison will be looking to return to winning ways when the Bracknell Bees buzz into town on Saturday.

So far this season the Herd have a 100 per cent record over their oldest rivals and with a double header of action against Bracknell this weekend, they will hope to take their tally to four wins of their local rivals.

The first game against the Bees is on home ice with the action starting at 6.30pm and also includes the annual Teddy Bear Toss after the Herd's first goal.

On Sunday the sides clash again at the Hive and this game starts at 6pm.

Bison British forward Matt Towalski is expected to be fit, after being injured in the loss against Guildford, but Vanya Antonov will be missing as he on Great Britain under-20 action in Hungary.

Saturday's game will also see the first return of former Herd forward Shaun Thompson to Basingstoke and he scored a hat-trick in the first Bison Bees clash in Hampshire earlier in the season.

Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: "They have improved since we last played them, so it is going to be a tough weekend. We have had a good record at home and after last week's loss we will be looking to get back to winning ways."

Tickets are still available for this local derby clash from the box office on (01256) 355266 or from the Bison website.
