Brave fightback from Bison ends unrewarded

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison got no time off over half term as they journey to Guildford to play the Flames on Spectrum Ice.

Bison were without Dan Scott and Tuomas Santavuori snuck the opener at 1.08 but Joe Rand finished from Derek Roehl at 15.52 to end the first period level.

Kevin Phillips netted on 23.00 to put the Flames back ahead but as time went on Rene Jarolin and Aaron Connolly combined with the former netting and the latter assisting at 32.37. Balance swung when Jez Lundin made it 3-2 at 36.32 but a quick fight back saw Ciaran Long net the equaliser at 37.24. With 27 seconds left in the period Tom Duggan netted what would turn out the game winner ending the second period 4-3.

Basingstoke Bison fell foul of penalty trouble through the third period meaning they were still behind a goal as the game entered the final minute. Tomas Hiadlovsky left the net at 59.10 but Flames weathered the final 50 seconds and took the points.
