Bison hoping not be spooked on opening weekend

The wait is over as the Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison return to the ice this weekend, as they take on the Peterborough Phantoms in the Billy Glover Memorial Trophy.
The Herd are in action on home ice on Saturday in a game which starts at 6.30pm, while the return in Peterborough the following evening starting at 5.30pm.

The Bison are expected to be at full strength for the weekend, so giving the Basingstoke faithful the chance to see the whole of their new team in action for the first time.

The weekend's games should to a great test for both outfits, as pair are expected to be in the thick of the title battle for South One, once the regular season gets underway on Saturday, September 9.

Bison head coach Doug Sheppard is looking forward to the pre-season series and said: "Peterborough on paper look like on the strongest teams in our league, so this is the sort of test we want to have at this stage of the season. I will be looking to play four lines and try out a number of combinations."
