Weekend Preview

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison open their league campaign on Saturday night with a visit from the Invicta Dynamos, which has a 6.30pm.

The Kent side were play-off champions last season and will provide a good test for the Herd in the first fixture in South One.

The Bison will be minus the unavailable Hallam Wilson, so Sam Brooks is called up from the Buffalo to replace him, as head coach Doug Sheppard continues to use the young talent within the club.

Two Herd men will face their former team mates in this opening game, as forward Ashley Jackson and defenceman Elliott Dewey were signed from Invicta in the summer.

The Dynamos have the same imports as last year in Slovak defenceman Ondrej Zosiak and Czech forward Adam Rehak.

Their Brit pack is led by forward Callum Fowler, while Scott Bailey impressed in the play-offs with eight goals in six games and summer signing from Milton Keynes Bobby Chamberlain is sure to add to their firepower.

Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: "I was pleased with the way we played in pre-season. We want to start our league campaign at home with a win to make sure our fans leave the arena with smiles on their face after Saturday night."

Tickets for what should be an exciting league opener are still available from the box office on (01256) 355266 or via the Bison website.

On Sunday night, the Bison start their National Cup campaign with a trip to the Telford Tigers
