Changes in the Herd

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison have made further changes to their squad in their ongoing 2017/18 inaugural NIHL1 season. Following a roller coast start to the season Head Coach Doug Sheppard has taken the tough step of releasing Jaroslav Cesky.

2017/18 was Jaroslavís second stint with the Herd following a return of 20+32 from 44 EPL starts in 2012/13. He spent last season with Oxford City Stars in NIHL1 and was looking to remain in the top flight of NIHL this season which allowed a deal to be done between club and player for this season when the Bison looked to complete their import duo.

Head Coach Doug Sheppard explained; ďItís never pleasant releasing a player and Iíd like to thank Jaro for joining us and his efforts so far this season. Weíve had an up and down start to the season but we still have a lot to compete for in the Autumn Cup and National Ice Hockey League so Iíve taken the hard decision to make a change in our non EIHA trained players. Itís a tough call but ultimately one I believe will help us build from a good weekend and keep us in contention for the remaining competitions we have a chance at.Ē

Jaroslav leaves the Bison with immediate effect and the clubís thanks and best wishes for the future.

Doug Sheppard is in the process of finalising a deal to add a replacement to the Herd and details will be announced in due course.

You can see the Bison in home ice action this Saturday at 6.30pm when they face-off against Streatham Ice Hockey Club.
