Jubilant Bison through to the Autumn Cup Finals

The Sherfield School Basingstoke Bison made the long journey to Hull to face the Pirates in a midweek game for the second leg of the Autumn Cup Semi-Final carrying with them a single goal lead from the home leg.

The Pirates levelled the aggregate score at 4.24 when Lee Bonner netted but Tomas Karpov levelled the game at 16.13 with the series winning goal.

At 21.57 Tomas Karpov netted his second to secure the lead on the night too and then Roman Malinik netted at 31.13 for 1-3.

Tomas Karpov netted the Bison fourth, also completing his hat-trick, at 44.11 and with that concluding the scoring Bison took the on the night win and the series win 8-4.

A jubilant Doug Sheppard gave his thoughts on the win; “Travelling to Hull midweek I thought we came out a little hesitant first 10 minutes but after that we controlled most of the play. Full credit, the guys work off the bus legs quickly and played the remaining 50 minutes how we wanted to play the game. Importantly we’re through to the final and look forwards to the finals against Swindon whenever they are.
