A solo "Road Trip" to Gillingham, as the guys face the Invicta Dynamos. Could Bison follow up Saturday’s great performance, with their first 4-point weekend, of the 2018/19 league season.

Ref: Belfitt
Linos: Eliasson, O’Neill

Straight from the off, both teams were going to get early chances. Mettam saving a near post shot and down the other end, Morris (Liam's brother!) taking a Bordowski shot in the chest pad, when choosing a corner would've probably been the better option.

Belfitt letting a couple of legitimate calls go, but then calling a soft one. At 3.30 on the clock, Adam Jones was the 'culprit', although it was more of a coming together of bodies, more than Tripping. Bison dug in, Invicta had a couple of good chances, but Mettam was equal to everything thrown at him. After returning to full strength, both teams had chances again. Morris for Bison & Leone for Dynamos. Then Bison got another penalty. Elliott Dewey picking up an Elbowing call at 6.07, probably correct, although he was just finishing a hit and his arm was slightly raised. Again, the Bison PK unit did enough to survive. Hallam had a good chance to score but Morris denied him.

At 13.26, the puck was behind our net, Klejna & Best went into the corner, Michal scrapped & coming away with the puck, Callum tussles with him and brings him down, Belfitt's arm goes up and he awards both penalties. Best for Hooking & Klejna for Diving!!

Beginning to think the ref wants an early finish, as he's just not calling stuff he really should be. Great example of this came at 15.45, Liam brings the puck into the Dynamos zone and gets tripped (it was blatant, trust me. Even Stevie Wonder would've SEEN it!). No call coming, so as Liam's skating back to bench for a change, he tells Belfitt what he thought and gets a 2 min minor 'Abuse of Official' penalty for his troubles. That was pretty much it for the first period. Teams go in level at break.

2nd Period starts pretty much like the first. Both netties, being called into action. Grant Bartlett opens the scoring for Invicta, unassisted at 22.28, shooting high into the roof of the net, on Mettam's stick side. Just over 2 mins later, Bison were level. Alex Sampford on target again. Cowley & Ralph finding Sampford in alone and he picked his spot over Morris's left shoulder. Time on clock is 24.42. Invicta re-took the lead at 27.22. Callum Best finishing a good move involving Strawson & Colvin. The puck came in to Best and he fired low and hard between Mettam's five-hole. Just after the restart, Adam Jones was penalised for Elbows, but Bison killed the penalty successfully. A nice drop pass from Klejna found Ashley Tait skating in and fired the puck past Morris to tie the scores at 2 each.

A minute later Louis Colvin got a penalty for Kneeing. But as hard as Bison tried, they just couldn't light the lamp with the extra man. But it didn't take too much longer, until Bison took the lead for the first time in the game. Morris made a great save from Cowley, but Bordowski was on hand to fire home from close range. Goal timed at 37.46.

But within a minute, Richard was in the sinbin, for an incident behind the play. I didn't actually see it, neither did the ref funnily enough. But, an Invicta player ended up in a heap on the ice. Lillis skated after Bordowski and tried to get him to fight, but Richard just skated away, smiling as he went. That pretty much ended the periods action. Invicta 2 Bison 3 at 40mins.

Bison started the third period with 22secs still left on Bordowski's penalty, but they were soon back to full strength after the restart. It was pretty much end to end action for the first half of the period. Many 'Late Hit' calls went unpunished, but finally Belfitt called one, not before time. Grant Bartlett the player to get the call at 51.08. Bison didn't take long to make the man advantage count Klejna passed to Jones on the point and he let rip with a wrister. George Norcliffe got a tip on, in front of net. The puck changed direction and flew up in off, the underside of the crossbar.

Now with a two-goal advantage, Bison could breathe a little easier.

Bordowski picked up another Interference call at 54.18, which again, Bison did well to kill off. Talking of killing off, we entered the final 2 minutes of the game. But it would be quite a long two minutes.

Invicta called a Time Out. Just after the restart, ex-Dynamo Tommy Ralph, fired the puck over the plexi, so Dynamos got a chance to grab a goal back. Unfortunately, it went the other way. Michal Klejna picking up a loose puck, skated into the Invicta zone and Callum Best grabs him again. The arm of Belfitt went straight up and then he signalled a Penalty Shot in favour of the Bison. Klejna was man to step up to seal the game once and for all. Belfitt blew his whistle and Klejna started his journey up the ice. He moved the puck from side to side, deked a couple of times and fired a low crisp shot between Morris's pads to make the result safe and get the win. A shorthanded penalty shot goal was registered in the books. But that wasn't the end of the scoring. Martins Susters got a Powerplay goal at 59.51, assisted by Strawson.

The final buzzer went off and Bison had gained their 2nd victory of the weekend.
