You really have to hand it to Bison; despite being beset with a shortage of skaters, they continue to confound everyone with their spirit which in this crucial game saw them hammer an Edinburgh Capitals side who's slim Play-Off hopes look now to be hanging by a thread.
Capitals were still in the game at the end of the opening period, outshooting Bison by 18 to 13 but still trailing by 2-1 after seeing Greg Wood (2nd of the season) open the scoring for the homesters at 6.41 and then Greg Chambers (21st) double the advantage at 7.38. Mike Stutzel (13th) pulled one back at 8.30 to give Capitals the boost they clearly needed.
Bison killed of their opponents in the middle session; scoring 4 without reply. Chambers (22nd, 23rd) completed a straight hat trick with goals at 24.15 and 27.13 and before the period break the score had risen to 6-1 with further strikes by Derek Campbell (13th) at 31.18 and then on the powerplay by Danny Stewart (18th) at 38.45.
It got no better for a shellshocked visitors in the final period as Bison added a further 4 goals by David Vychodil (4th) at 43.37, Eric Braff (4th) at 44.13, Brad Cruikshank (19th) at 53.38 and finally Chambers (24th) with his fourth of the night at 57.36 before Ross Dalgleish (7th) scored a consolation for Capitals with 29 seconds remaining.
