Farewell to a Legend!
12th of April 2012
It has been announced today by the Basingstoke Bison organisation that they will not be renewing the contract of Steve Moria for the 2012/13 season.

“We have decided not to renew Steve’s contract for the 2012/13 season,” Planet Ice Group Managing Director John Neville said. “This was a tough decision given everything that Steve has done over the past three years to build a competitive EPL team, however budgets within British Ice Hockey dictates that the only way to ensure a competitive team is to go with a player/coach. I would like to thank Steve for his dedication to the Bison over the past three seasons and for the unique contribution he has made to British ice hockey.”

“After reviewing the clubs progress over the past three seasons, I felt that we needed to go in a different direction with the coaching staff moving forward. I am currently looking at the structure and coaching options for next year and will be looking to build on the stability of the last three seasons to provide Bison fans with a team that is able to challenge for league honours and trophies.”

As recognition of Steve’s service not only to the Bison but also as a legend to British ice hockey, Planet Ice have agreed to give Steve a testimonial game, this game will be held in Basingstoke at the beginning of next season and further details will be released in due course.
