The Add Recycling Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of Great Britain under-20 forward Andrew Melachrino.
The 19-year-old was part of the play-off winning Slough Jets last season, having before that played for the Guildford Flames.
He scored twice for Slough in 35 starts and also netted 11 times for the Jets ENL side from 15 games last year.
The Guildford-born player was also GB under-20s joint top goal scorer in Germany last December and is hoping to be selected to play this winter in the Ukraine.
By joining the Herd, Melachrino is reunited with his coach of last season Doug Sheppard who rates the teenager very highly.
Sheppard said: "His game is built on speed and playing on the big ice at Basingstoke is going to benefit him no question . He has a lot of talent, plays with a physical edge and has got the potential of being a top player."
The new addition to the Bison can't wait for the new season to start and said: "I really enjoyed being coached by Doug last season and when he asked me to join him at Basingstoke I was never going to refuse."
"I really think we can win things this season and want to help the Bison do that. I would describe myself as a fast player who hits hard and never gives up."
Talking about his GB experiences, Melachrino added: "It is a great honour to play for your country and last season In the first game I was moved from the fourth line to the first line where I stayed for the rest of the tournament."
Melachrino's jersey is available to Own and Loan at a price of £150 for the home jersey and £120 for the away shirt.
All Owners and Loaners will have their name printed on the back of the player’s jersey, as well as having the opportunity of a photograph with their respective player at the end of the season.
