HAVING already recruited what looks like a championship challenging squad Basingstoke Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard is determined the final two players will be the right ones.
The Herd boss has just two slots left in his side for an import defenceman and a third import forward.
The Canadian is making sure he gets the right guys to complete his impressive line-up for the new season.
Sheppard said: “I am going to take my time for these are the final pieces of the jigsaw. I am looking for an import D-man who has a physical presence and obviously it would also help if he has a big shot for the powerplay, but that is not vital.”
The Bison boss added: “For the forward I want a game breaking player who can open up a tight game for you and make things happen.”
With a great summer of recruitment already behind him Sheppard is very pleased with the way the team has come together. He said: “I am very excited about the team and I know the Bison fans are as well, which is great to see.
“We are strong in net and have a very good defensive core and a great set of forwards. It is just a matter now of adding the final pieces.”

The Bison are also delighted at the continued sponsorship from ADD Recycling, Sapphire Cleaning Solutions and Adrian Noad Property Services.
ADD Recycling will once again be the Herd’s main sponsors for the second year running and managing director Adam Doll said: “I am excited to be on board again and I am looking forward to watching the impressive team that Doug Sheppard is putting together.”
Sapphire Cleaning Solutions owner Fiona Hudson said: “When we heard of Wiggy’s (Chris Wiggins) departure, we felt there was only one man to replace him for promoting our company’s name so we are delighted to be sponsoring Joe Greener and are also pleased to be renewing the sponsorship of the penalty box for the up and coming season.”
Adrian Noad Property Services based in Tadley have been a long term sponsor of the team being involved for over 10 years.
Hockey Camps
Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard is running an ice hockey camp from August 13 to August 17.
It is open to under-10, 12 and 14 players. Along with Sheppard, other members of the Herd will be helping out.
