The Basingstoke Bison face British Knockout Cup holders Cardiff Devils, this weekend in a quarter-final double header of action.
Saturday the teams do battle in Basingstoke with a face-off of 6.30pm. The return leg is in Cardiff on Sunday.
This is not the first quarter-final clash between these sides in this competition. In 2006, they went head-to-head with the Devils winning in Basingstoke 3-1 before the second leg ended all square at 4-4, but was enough to book Cardiff a semi-final place.
Last season, the Bison made another quarter-final exit this time in a one-off game against the Manchester Phoenix, so success is long overdue in the Knockout Cup. However, the Herd are up against it as they face a side who have beaten them already five times this campaign.
The last win being in Basingstoke, in early December when thanks to an inspired display by netminder Phil Osaer, Cardiff were 2-1 winners.
However, the American shot stopper is sidelined this weekend and in his place will be his back-up 19-year-old Joe Myers.
Also missing from the Cardiff line-up from their last time in town, are injured British forwards Phil Hill and Paul Sample and Canadian Brad Voth is suspended.
The Bison are hoping to have player/assistant Steve Thornton back in their line-up, the Canadian has been training all week.
Bison head coach Ryan Aldridge said: "The Knockout Cup is a competition I feel we can do well in. It would be nice to beat the Devils for the first time this season, but we know it is going to be tough."
Saturday's game is a non season ticket match and these tickets will be held until 5.30pm on the day of the game. For all enquires for tickets on what should be a great cup tie, ring the box office on (01256) 355266.
