Tough weekend for the Herd
24th of December 2007
The injuries on players hurt us this weekend, playing without Thornton and Mikko was tough, when we then lost Woody too, it was not an easy task any more.

On Saturday we played really well, and it was really open to the very last second who was to get some points. We saw 850+ through the gates who all seemed very pleased with the match even if we didn't get any points. 850 is short of what we need, but on the Saturday before Christmas it is not bad at all!

Sunday's game became tough for the same reason; you can't use only 9 skaters against a team like Sheffield 2 days in a row! Any team in the league would suffer hard if they used 2 lines or less. So even if the result looked bad on paper (9-1) it was still a real effort from the boys and I'm very proud of them all!

69 noisy fans made there way to Sheffield on Sunday to support our team. According to reports from the rink they made more noise then the 2000+ Sheffield fans! I'm really glad we can show the other teams that we have the best fans in the league (and not only the best team)!

So what is next then?

Thornton had his scan on Sunday morning, and we are waiting for the results on it. I hope to hear on Monday morning what it looks like, so I will come back to this ASAP.

Mikko was not on the ice this weekend either, but is feeling better, fingers crossed and he can be back on the ice next weekend!

But this still leaves us short, so we need something more. I will give you some hope :) I'm waiting for 'good to go' from an agent about a player that will do us well! We will be back to icing 12 skaters, we have done this for weeks now and done it very very well. I think this has to be our first 'goal' to reach, 12 healthy skaters back on the ice! But we do need some luck for that to happen next weekend and if we are out of luck, we just have to find another solution!

That's all for now, I hope the boys have a safe trip home and that the fan bus behind them make it safe too, we need both them and our boys!

Thanks for reading and I wish you all a Merry Xmas!
