At the end of the season this game could go a long way in deciding wither Coventry retain their title or not. The home side found themselves three down with just over eight minutes on the clock but came storming back to hit six without reply to take the points.
With only 1.35 on the clock the home side were a goal behind as Greg Chambers (10th) put the visitors in front. This lead was doubled at 4.30 as Mikko Purontakanen netted his first goal of the season. Derek Campbell (10th) then made it 3-0 at 8.08. Paul Thompson called a time out at this point to regroup his team. Just over three minutes later Sylvain Cloutier (15th) steadied the ship with a goal at 11.45. The same player with his 16th of the season got the scoreline back to one with a powerplay goal with 3 seconds of the period remaining.
The second period was heading to be goalless until Neal Martin (2nd) hit home the equaliser with only 54 seconds left on the clock. With the teams all square it was all to play for in the third period.
The Blaze got over their initial set back in the first period to hit three goals in five minutes in the third session. The first of these came at 51.08 as Matt Soderstrom (3rd) found the net. At 53.34 Curtis Cruickshank recevied a 5 plus game for spearing. On the resulting 5 minute powerplay the Blaze sealed the game with two powerplay goals the first came from Adam Calder (15th) at 54.13 and the hosts completed a tremendous turnaround at 56.46 as Dan Carlson (10th) scored the sixth and final goal.
The Bison will be disappointed to have gone three in front and throw it away but all credit to the Blaze for a great recovery that sees them back on top two points clear.
