A winning habit is what the Basingstoke Bison will hope to continue on Saturday night, when they host the Edinburgh Capitals.
After a fine win over the Belfast Giants last Sunday in the Challenge Cup, this time around the Herd are in the hunt for Elite League points, as well as looking to give new owner Tomas Enerston the perfect start to his reign in charge.
Basingstoke will have two new imports in their line-up for the game against the visiting Caps. Canadian netminder Curtis Cruickshank will be back between the pipes, as his starts his third spell in a Bison jersey looking to add to his club record five shut-outs.
Also making his debut is new to this country, Finnish defenceman Mikko Purontakanen who replaces broken wrist victim Kyle Peto. Ironically he played on the same team as the injury hit Canadian last season at KalPa Kuopia in Finnish Elite League.
The Edinburgh side will arrive in town no doubt still smartly from an 8-5 defeat on home ice late last month, that after the Scottish outfit led 4-0 early in the second period. The brilliant Bison comeback was led by Steve Thornton, who netted his second hat-trick of the season.
Tickets for what should be another great night not to be missed at the Basingstoke Arena, are still available from the ticket office on (01256) 355266. The game has a start time of 6.30pm.
On Sunday, the Herd travel north to face the Manchester Phoenix for the second time in their barn this season, looking to repeat their 7-4 victory in the first month of the season. Once again in that match Thornton, was in the thick of the goals with a hat-trick.
Talking about the weekends games, Bison head coach Ryan Aldridge said: "It has been a memorable week for this club already, and we will be look to continue that on the ice. Having Curtis and Mikko is the line-up is great boost for us. We want to build on the Belfast victory and give our fans something more to cheer about."
