Edinburgh Capitals 5 Basingstoke Bison 8
The bottom 2 teams in the current standings produced an astonishing game in Edinburgh as the visiting Bison twice hit 4 straight goals to come from behind twice and gain an amazing road win.
This was Bison's 1st win in 10 games but it's Capitals' 9th league loss in a row with last nights Challenge Cup win in Hull being their only win in their last 11.
After the opening period Capitals looked completely in control, leading by 3-0 thanks to goals by Dino Bauba (2nd) after only 1.25, a powerplay strike by Colin Hemingway (10th) at 3.11 and Iain Bowie's 1st of the season at 13.47.
When Bowie (2nd) added another at 23.19 you would have given Bison no chance but they quickly got on the board 13 seconds later through Greg Owen (6th) and this seemed to completely change the momentum of the game and 2 goals by Danny Stewart (9th/10th) on the same shorthanded situation with Owen in the box timed at 28.02 and 28.34 inspired the visitors further.
A powerplay strike by Greg Chambers (7th) tied it up at 33.48 only for Capitals also on the powerplay stemmed the flow when Doug Christiansen (7th) edged them ahead again at 38.06.
Bison never looked back in the third period after yet another powerplay goal counted - Steve Thornton (7th) levelling on a 5 on 3 advantage at 45.32. Thornton (8th) again on the powerplay shot Bison in front for the first time at 46.25 and then completed a straight hat trick at 51.12 with his (9th) of the season.
Shellshocked Capitals could find no way back and the scoring was completed by Brad Cruikshank (7th) at 55.49.

Vipers climber back into second spot in the standings following this high scoring road win in Hampshire against a struggling Bison side who have now lost their last 7 games and are winless in their last 9.
For Vipers it is the opposite - only 1 loss in their last 9 games!

The home side however deservedly levelled again when Stewart (8th) hit his second of the game at 17.13.
Vipers took control in the second period, winning it by 3-1. Again they scored inside the opening minute with Longstaff (5th) counting after 53 seconds and then at 28.00 exactly Petr Kratky (1st) double the advantage. It looked bleak for the home side when on the powerplay Shaun Johnson (1st) made it 5-2 at 31.30 but 17 seconds later Bison pulled one back thanks to Greg Chambers (6th).
The home side dominated the shot count in the third period - outshooting Vipers by 16-4 and they made it a 1-goal game at 53.13 when Steve Thornton (6th) scored on the powerplay. Home hopes were finally ended however when Derek Campbell (8th) completed the scoring at 55.35.
