Bison vs Giants
21st of October 2007
A lot of action off the ice over the past few days with players moving in and out from both of these teams - Thursday night saw quick debuts for Stevie Lyle and Peter Campbell for Giants against their old employers Bison.

Belfast Giants 5 Basingstoke Bison 3 (Thursday 18 Oct)

What a start for the home side as they came flying out of the blocks - Shaun Sutter had them ahead after only 18 seconds and by 1.21 it was 2-0 as Carlyle Lewis beat the shellshocked Dan Green in the away net.

Great credit to Bison after what has been a difficult period for them. They regrouped well and at 7.39 pulled a goal back thanks to Danny Stewart and indeed ended the period outshooting their hosts by 12-9.

Giants restored a 2-goal advantage - briefly - when Campbell scored against his old side at 31.11 but 20 seconds later Brad Cruikshank made it 3-2. It was Giants seemingly in control by the end of the period however, as Campbell on the powerplay scored his second at 38.48 to make it 4-2.

Player/coach Ed Courtenay extended the lead further at 52.07 but battling Bison never let their heads go down and their own Player/coach Ryan Aldridge ended the scoring on the night at 58.39.

The visitors took an early lead when Shaun Sutter (with his 3rd goal of the season) counted at 5.03 but after that both goaltenders excelled with young Brit. Dan Green having a great night in the Bison cage.

All the Bison hard work paid off when Brad Cruikshank (6th) levelled at 51.05 but then at 54.26 Giants grabbed what turned out to be the winning goal thanks to Carlyle Lewis (4th).
