The Basingstoke Bison battled hard for the two points on Saturday night but in the end lost out in a penalty shoot-out to the Nottingham Panthers.

Despite numerous chances at either end the opening period ended goalless. The hosts went in front at 23.21 with a goal from Peter Campbell. The Panthers out shot their opponents in the period but failed to get back on level terms.

They finally got the break through four minutes into the third period as the hero of the night Patrik Wallenberg found the net at 44.10. The remainder of the period failed to find a winner and the game went into overtime. The extra five minutes ended goalless and it had to be decided on penalty shots.

Danny Stewart converted the first one for Bison with Sean McAslan doing the same for the Panthers. We then had three misses, Greg Chambers and Peter Campbell for the Bison and Corey Neilson for the Panthers. Patrik Wallenberg then stepped up to find the net and give Panthers the extra point.
