All-Star forward signs so Bison get their Mojo back
14th of May 2009
The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of import forward Joe Ciccarello.

The 37-year-old Calgary-born forward is no stranger to the Herd having been their top points in the club's first season in the Elite League.

He arrives back in Basingstoke after four years in Slough, where he formed a deadly partnership with current Bison player/coach Steve Moria.

Last season the pair scored 85 goals between them, with Italian/Canadian Ciccarello bagging a career high 41 in a points haul of 93, which earned him a place on the first all-star team of the English Premier League.

Having reunited one of my lethal scoring combinations in the EPL, Bison boss Moria said: " Joe (Ciccarello) is the most skilled player in this league, who can turn a game on his own and is great going one-on-one. We have formed a great partnership and with his skill is lethal on the powerplay and so dangerous on the penalty kill."

The returning Ciccarello is ready for new challenge ahead of him and said: "I am very exciting about coming back to the club and feel this is great opportunity to link up with Mo again.

" I know the club struggled last season, but I am here to help contribute to something positive and bring the feel good factor back to the fans of Basingstoke."

Talking about record strike rate last year, Ciccarello added: "I came as a nice surprise to be voted on the all-star team. I think last season I was little more direct around the net and shot the puck more often which is why I scored more goals."

Ciccarello brings the number of signings for the Herd to 10 and don't forget you can own the sharp shooter shirt for the forthcoming season, along with any of the previous Bison signings as part of the new Own and Loan jersey scheme.

Home shirts are priced at £150 and the away ones are £120. For further information and the chance to own a Bison shirt for the new season please e-mail bison.info@planet-ice.co.uk
