The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce the signing of Sam Oakford from the Bracknell Bees.
The 18-year-old defenceman is one of the hottest young properties in the English Premier League and was voted the Best British player for the Berkshire outfit last season.
That was his third full year in a Bees shirt and in his first season, he was part of their EPL Championship winning team, when he picked up the accolade as the team's most improved player, an award he has now won three years running.
Highly rated blue liner Oakford is also a junior Great Britain international, having been a member of the silver medal winning GB under-20's in the World Championships in January.
Talking about another great addition to his squad, Bison player/coach Steve Moira said: "Sam is a huge talent, who has emerged as one of the premier defencemen in the EPL.
"Although he is only 18, he plays like a seasoned pro and will have a critical role with the Bison this season. I am excited to have him on board."
Talking about his move to Basingstoke, Oakford said: "I am really pleased to have signed for the Bison. This is a new and exciting opportunity for me. I will be going to university in Southampton to study sports journalism, so the move to Basingstoke fits in well."
