12th of March 2009
The flames around the Manchester Phoenix have ben burning hot in Hampshire this season, but on Saturday night (6.30pm) the Herd will be keen to douse them, on a evening when the Fire Fighters Charity are in town.

There will also be a fire engine packed outside the Arena from 4.30pm until 5.45pm depending on call-out.

Bag It Up are sponsoring the programme for the game and they are involving in recycling for charity and their website is www.bagitup.org.uk

Also remember that getting a ticket on Saturday night and they are still available from the box office on (01256) 355266, will earn you a discount on entry for the London Irish against Worcester Warriors match the following night - Sunday.

So that is a chance of a double whammy of top class sport in one weekend - who could ask for more.

Just take your season ticket or match night ticket to the Madajski Stadium to claim your reduced entry fee as follows for all stands:- South - £13 (instead of £23), East - £15 (instead of £29), West Lower - £17 (instead of £32), West Upper - £18 (instead of £35).

The game kicks off at 1pm with the pre-match entertainment starting at 11.30am. Tadley RFC will form the guard of honour when the players run on to the pitch.

Before that on Saturday night, the Bison will be hoping to add to Manchester's miserable week. This has so far seen them lose twice in Cardiff, on consecutive nights 3-1 and 4-3.

The second game on Thursday, saw tempers become frayed as three players - two from the Phoenix were dismissed in the final seconds of the game, one of them Carl Graham on match penalty, so will miss the Basingstoke game due to suspension.

Talking ahead of the contest, Bison player/coach Eric Braff said: "We know our season is done, but we will still be playing for pride and want to get a league win before the year is out."

Both Warren Tait and Robert Pospisil who missed Wednesday's night 7-5 win over the Swindon Wildcats, will be back in the Herd line-up this weekend.

On Sunday night, the Bison travel north to face the Hull Stingrays.
