Ink dry? Yeah, I know what you are thinking. 'Does that Swede not know it's called watching PAINT dry?'
Well, sorry to say, yes, I do, but that is not what this is about! It really is ink, but let's leave that for now :)
What a weekend we had! The first thing to notice was of course the amount of people who decided it was a good day to visit Bisonland on Saturday. There were 1504 in the building! We had 1477 seats booked through the ticket system and then some people up in the VIP rooms - they are not shown on the ticket system and that is the reason there have been some different numbers circulating. That's what I call a success! There were not 2 seats available next to each other and there were only about 50-60 standing tickets available. What a great, great turnout!
On top of this it was also really nice to see the place buzzing with off-ice things. Radio 2ten was there, as was the BBC Raw campaign and the Army was there to raise some money for boys returning from Afghanistan. All in all, a fantastic effort from everyone involved to make this happen..This is just what I want in the building on game nights, loads of people, loads of activity and a proper buzz about it before the game!
Ink? Hmm, you can wait a little longer :)
So to the game then. What do I think? I think we played really well. It's tough to lose your No1 goalie, but Green did a good job for us minding the net and the skaters managed to keep our zone pretty clear. Sure it would have been fantastic to win a game like this in front of so many visitors. Sure we needed the points to stay in Play Off position, but it is not over yet. What is it they say? 'It ain't over until the fat lady sings' and the only one I hear singing is Bavy. I have to admit it is a tough one, but it can be done.
FINAL!
Yes, it is the Knock Out Cup FINAL on Wednesday evening! This has to be the biggest sporting event in town for a long time! A team in an Elite League in a final in Basingstoke. LET'S GO BISON, LET'S GO! Yesterday, Sunday, was the last day that season ticket holders could buy their normal seats, and most of the season ticket holders used this option. For those few that didn't, those seats are now available on a normal ticket! I think the boys really deserve to be in the final, and I will be so proud to watch them in this match! Yes, we have injuries - was there ever a time when I didn't have to say this? - but we also play our best games under pressure. They know when we have to win and they really want to win. Bring it on! Make sure you are there to give them your full support!
This week looks pretty busy. We have the final as mentioned above but we also have a road game the day before. No, don't ask me how that happened, please, so it is a really full schedule.
Ink? Nah, it can wait.
Injuries
Was it only me or did David V really play all of the 3rd period on Saturday, I mean all of it, on the ice all the time in 3rd? I have to check that with him but someone said that was the case. We have had a bit of a virus circulating, guys not feeling too good and Mikko was one of the guys who had to walk off on Saturday, as did DC and Curtis but for different reasons. Brad also took a bad hit as many of you saw, and we are waiting to see what is happening with this for the up-coming games now. Some of those guys will be on the ice for sure and some might not be. I will try to update you more on this later.
What has been confirmed is that Thornton will not be playing any more this season. Bad news for us, but there's nothing we can do about it.
So let's get down to something funnier, INK!
Yep, it is now confirmed, ink is on the dotted line :). We all knew that Ryan was staying for next season, so who is this? Well, I'm very proud to say that it is a player who has given it his all this season - they all have so that tells you nothing - and I'm very proud to have him back next season. That tells you nothing either, right?
.
The first player to sign up for next season is.
Hmm, you are going to hate me for this one. The name of the first player to sign up for next season will be published in the Gazette on Thursday!
The ink should be dry by then :)
Thanks all for reading! See you all on Wednesday!
