Braff's Banter
6th of February 2009
Edinburgh is always a long bus ride, but it feels so much longer when you travel home having lost there. Even worst is what happened to us on Sunday, losing in the final minute. We had a couple of point blank chances and our stickss explode and then they go and score the winner.

We worked hard for the full 60 minutes in the game, but unlike in Belfast we did not even have a point to show for it. Obviously looking at the standings it was an even bigger defeat, made worst by the fact Hull also won.

We have a lot of work to do, but I hope last night against Manchester we gave you our loyal fans something to cheer about.

Saturday against Cardiff was always going to be a difficult and being eight goals down from the first-leg.
Any chance we had was killed off by the early goals they scored, but I have to say the goal of the game, came from the stick of our own Shaun Thompson.

That has been up there with the goal of the season, the way he skated past all those Cardiff players before scoring.

Last week saw two new players join the club in Ivo Mocek and Corey LeClair. Both of them have impressed me since joining the club and I am sure they will greatly help us as we go down the stretch.

New players always lift a dressing room as do returning players and it will also be great to see Kevin Reiter back in net for us. He is day to day at the moment to when he is back in the line-up.

He is playing in the Elite League All Star game along with Shaun (Thompson) who we talked about here last week. Chubbs (Greg Chambers) and Kurt Reynolds have now also been selected.

Chubbs is one of the best players in this league, our go to guy who will take advantage of the moments lapse in any defence. Kurt is a player in his first year with us and has proved he can play at this level. He is a solid performer night in and night out. He is not the finished article yet, but is prepared to listen and has a great future ahead of him.

I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for the game against the Steelers.
