The guessing and conjecture is now over as both Dave Matsos and Paul Thompson have named their final four recruits to their respective All-Star rosters and each have gone with heavyweight finals signings.
Dave Matsos has completed his Northern All-Stars with a massive final twosome - goalscoring and goalstopping being his priority to counter the moves by his counterpart Paul Thompson.
Matsos has waited till the final draft before unveiling that Jody Lehman of the Sheffield Steelers to share the goaltending duties with Andrew Verner of the Newcastle Vipers. And in another heavyweight 'signing,' Matsos has gone for experience, size and skill in the shape of Newcastle Vipers and Great Britain forward, David Longstaff.
Meanwhile from his Midlands base Coventry Blaze head coach Paul Thompson, heading up the Southern bench, has saved his last two signings for his domestic club and a combination of offensive power and silky defending.
Thompson resisted the temptation to name the four players he was selecting from the Blaze early, choosing to watch the Northern squad unfold before finally deciding to select explosive Canadian forward Dan Carlson together with his smooth-skating and offensively gifted blueliner, GB International Jonathan Weaver.
An Elite League spokesperson noted, "The recruiting is over and the countdown is now on to what promises to be a very special night. All-Star games are traditionally fun and full of skills, but with two ultra-competitive coaches on the benches and two rosters loaded with talent such as these, we could be in for a night of real fireworks on the 19th."
The All-Star game - supported by Planet Ice - will take place on Thursday 19th of February at the Coventry Skydome with a 7.30pm face-off, and tickets are already on sale priced at £15 for Adults; £7 for U-16; £10 for Concessions and Family Tickets (2 Adults and 2 U-16) at £38.
