The Basingstoke Bison will look to build on their superb mid-week win over the Nottingham Panthers, when they host the Newcastle Vipers on Saturday evening,
Planet Ice stepping in to save the team on Monday. The Herd will now look to put the icing on the cake on a great week in the club's history with a home victory.
There is also the added incentive for the Bison as it is their chance to gain revenge for last Sunday's 8-0 defeat on Tyneside.
On home ice it should be a different story, as Basingstoke have won their last two games in their own building and the scalp of Newcastle will complete a very nice hat-trick.
Last Sunday, the Vipers were full of venom with Todd Griffith the main architecture of their win as he bagged a hat-trick. He also set-up Tyler Willis for one of his two goals. The other Vipers to hit the back of the net were Rob Wilson, Rob Rankin and Andre Payette.
That gave Newcastle their third victory over the Basingstoke in this season's Elite League campaign, having also won 5-2 on their first visit to Basingstoke. Derek Campbell had a brilliant game that night returning 2+2, but injury looks set to rule him out this weekend.
Bison player/coach Eric Braff is hoping his team can maintain their winning habit which saw the Herd stampede into a play-off spot, after Tuesday's 6-4 success in Nottingham.
The Herd goals were scored by Matt Miller (2) and singles for Brent Hughes, Jeremy Cornish, Danny Stewart and Greg Chambers, who remains the league's top points scorer.
Braff said: "We have now got the 8-0 defeat out of our systems with the win in Nottingham. Of course we want to avenge that defeat and it came after a very hard week both on and off the ice.
"Now we are just fully focused on what is happening on the ice. I expect us to do well and we want to keep winning in our own building, that is important."
Games between these sides so far this season have not been short of action and that should be the same on Saturday, when the puck is dropped at 6.30pm.
Tickets for the match are selling fast, but some are still available on (01256) 355266 .
