The Basingstoke Bison head to the weekend, looking to build on their battling performance in Cardiff on Wednesday night, when they were just edged out in overtime.
The Herd came back from 3-0 down, to force the game into the extra period, thanks to goals from Ryan Aldridge, Greg Chambers and a first of the season for Jason Goulet.
Next up for the Bison on Saturday night is a visit from league champions Coventry Blaze, that is followed by the Herd's first trip to the Sheffield Arena to face the Steelers.
Basingstoke will be out to avenge last Saturday's 5-2 defeat in the Skydome, when Aldridge netted a Bison brace. The Blaze scorers were Matt Soderstrom, Scott Kelman, Adam Calder, Dan Carlson and Russ Cowley.
Games against the Coventry are always entertaining and tickets are still available for Saturday's clash on (01256) 355266. All the action gets underway at 6.30pm.
Basingstoke have their fingers crossed that new Canadian import Matt Miller will be this weekend. Top defenceman Eric Braff's ankle injury is day-to-day thing, so he could also suit for the Blaze game.
Captain Brad Cruikshank will sit out the Coventry match, which is the final one of his suspension, so will return to face old Bison team mates Doug Sheppard and Dan Green on Sunday night in Sheffield.
Looking ahead to the weekend Bison head coach Aldridge said: "I was pleased with our performance in Cardiff and the guys showed a lot of character to come back. Now we will look to take that into the Coventry game and if we stick to our systems I believe we can win.".
He added: "We need to put on a show for our home fans, as the last two games in our own building have been very disappointing."
Sunday's opponents Sheffield have won just one of their last four games, but talking about the Steelers showdown, the Bison boss said: "We know it is going to be tough and they will look at our results and think they will be able to walk all over us. We will go there to play a good road game and like in Cardiff look to get something out of it."
