Czech out new forward
30th of January 2009
The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of Czech Republic forward Ivo Mocek.

The 20-year-old is set to fly into Britain on Saturday and if all goes to plan will make his debut against the Cardiff Devils that evening.

The 191 pounder 6ft 1in forward joins the Herd from HC VOKD Poruba and last year played for HC Sareza Ostrava, where he has scored three times in 17 games and has also averaged nearly a point a game for the under-20 team at the club this year.

Talking about the latest addition to the Herd, former team mate Andre Niec said: "He's a young, hungry guy who hits like a train, shoots on sight and is in tremendous physical condition. He's very keen to get here and make an impact with the Bison. He's played at a high level in Slovakia so can't wait to come and test himself in the Elite League."

The club are still in talks with other targets, which they hoping to bring to Basingstoke.

Nottingham Panthers netminder Geoff Woolhouse has been drafted in to play against the Devils. The British shot stopper has previous this season played against the Bison, but tomorrow will be in a Basingstoke shirt

Saturday night's game against the Cardiff at the Basingstoke Arena, will see Planet Ice donate 50 pence to the children's hospice Naomi House, for every Bison goal scored for every paying adult at the game.

The match will also see the popular teddy bear toss, where fans can throw soft toys onto the ice after the first Basingstoke goal of the game.

After the match, there will also be a shirt auction for the grey/silver cup shirts in Q's Bar at the Basingstoke Arena.

This match is a non-season ticket game, but for the Devils game only, Planet Ice have reduced the price to season ticket holders by 25 per cent, so an adult ticket is priced at £9.75, concessions £7.50, kids £6.50 and a family £27.50.

Tickets for the game against the Cardiff Devils, can purchased by ringing the box office on (01256) 355266.

Also don't forget tickets are on sale for Wednesday night's Challenge Cup semi-final first leg clash with the Manchester Phoenix. This is the first time that Basingstoke have made this far in the competition. So don't miss out on a great night. Doors open at 6.30pm with a 7.30pm face-off. Again this is a non-season ticket game
