The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce that Czech/Austrian forward Andre Niec has signed for the rest of the season.
He made his Herd debut last weekend and picked up an assist, on the only home goal in a the defeat against Nottingham.
The 26-year-old was born in the Czech Republic, but spent 16 years in Austria where he played for both the junior and senior international teams.
He is now hoping a spell with the Bison will put him in the shop window for a re-call into the senior Austrian side.
The forward started the season with the Telford Tigers in the English Premier League, where he returned 23 points from 14 games. He has also played in the Czech Republic, Austria and North America during his career.
Talking about the latest signing Bison player/coach Eric Braff said: "He looked good in training and did well in his debut game. So I am sure he can help us get out of this current slump we are in."
Next up for the Basingstoke is a double header weekend against the Belfast Giants coached by former Bison Steve Thornton.
On Saturday the Herd travel to the Odyssey and then on Sunday the teams meet again at the Basingstoke Arena.
The Belfast side will be keen not to drop any more league points, after losing 2-1 to leaders Sheffield, on Wednesday night. A game which saw Jason Rushton make his debut for the Giants.
Peterborough and Great Britain under-20 goalie Euan King will once again guard the pipes for Basingstoke, as Kevin Reiter continues to recover from an ankle injury.
Talking ahead of the weekend's games, Bison player/coach Braff said: "We know we are in for a tough weekend, but we have not played them since the first month of the season. As ever we go into every game looking to take some points away from it. If we continue to work hard I sure that will happen."
Tickets for the game against Belfast on Sunday, which has a 6pm start can still be purchased from the box office on (01256) 355266.
Tickets are also available for the Knock-Out Cup quarter-final clash with Cardiff on January 31 and the first leg of the Challenge Cup semi-final with Manchester on Wednesday February 4.
