A welcome win for Stingrays but a serious blow to Bison's efforts to make the end of season Play-Off's as the Hampshire side fell just short after a stirring comeback.
The home side were in no mood to hang around early on in this game and took the lead after only 45 seconds when Jake Riddle (18th) found the net and then at 8.55 the lead was doubled thanks to a strike by James Knight (7th), with the 2-goal advantage being held until the first period break.
A powerplay opportunity saw Bison get on the scoreboard as Greg Chambers (34th) fired home at 25.59 but only 34 seconds later the home side went 3-1 ahead with Riddle (19th) again finding the target
Bison suffered a blow when losing Brad Cruikshank to a cross checking minor along with 2+2+10 for attempted spearing at 34.07 and the home powerplay took advantage at 39.31 with Sergiy Rublivsky (10th) counting to give Stingrays a healthy 4-1 lead after two periods.
As has been shown time and time again this Bison side has amazing heart and they clawed their way right back into the game by scoring twice in the opening minutes of the final period. Only 48 seconds in and Kyle Peto (2nd) made it 4-2 and then at 43.22 Chambers (35th) brought the visitors to within a single goal.
However, try as they might they were unable to make any further breakthrough and it was Stingrays giving the home support some cheer with a welcome victory.
