Bison v Cardiff Preview
6th of November 2008
The Basingstoke Bison will be hunting for their first Elite League win over the Cardiff Devils this season, when the teams lock horns on Saturday night, the action getting under way at 6.30pm.

The Herd enjoyed a 4-3 Challenge Cup victory in Cardiff, in the league have suffered a 4-3 overtime defeat in Wales and 7-2 reverse when the Welsh side were last in Basingstoke.

In that game, back in September the Devils scoring was led by Jason Silverthorn and Mike Prpich with braces, while there were singles for Lee Cowmeadow, Jay Latulippe and the now departed Rod Hinks. The Bison goals were scored by Jeremy Cornish and Greg Chambers.

At that point in time the Herd were still hunting for their first home win of the season, but they ended last month with wins over both Hull and Edinburgh on home ice. A hat-trick of victories was denied by the 5-2 loss to Newcastle last weekend.

The Bison will keen to bounce back to winning ways, but will be minus forward Greg Chambers away with the Great Britain team in Poland.

Talking ahead of the weekend's game player/coach Eric Braff said: "We want to get back to winning and we have a full week of training to prepare for this game.

"We have had a busy schedule recently and this will give us the chance to truly focus on our systems.

He added: "Any team is going to miss Chubbs (Greg Chambers) as he is one of the best players in the league, but I am sure other players will step up and do a job for us."

The short staffed Bison are sure to rise to the occasion against a Devils side who could give a debut to new Canadian forward Marc Fulton in this game if his paperwork arrives in time. He played on the same team the Texas Wildcatters with Cardiff netminder Peter Aubry last season.

This game is sure to be fast and furious and played in a superb atmosphere as matches always are between these sides. So don't miss out and ring the box office now for tickets on (01256) 355266.
