Details of the following bans were received today: for Brad Cruikshank, the supplementary disciplinary panel awarded a two games ban for a sucker punch and a further two games ban for bringing the game into disrepute; Curtiss Patrick received a two games ban for a sucker punch. The one game match ban has already been served in both cases.
After training today, Brad made the following statement.
"First, I want to apologise to the fans, the organisation and my team-mates for my behaviour when I threw my equipment on to the ice after the alleged incident. This was sheer frustration on my part.
Regarding the incident itself, I punched the Cardiff player who had scored the seventh goal in the dying moments of the game. He was celebrating in a way I found disrespectful to our team in our own building. He didn't fall down; his helmet didn't come off; he wasn't injured in any way. I've seen this happen hundreds of times in my career. When it has happened to me, I have never expected the player who delivered the punch to be penalised as severely as I have been.
The coach and I have reviewed the game carefully and found no recorded evidence of the alleged sucker punch."
