The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce that their latest signing is top British forward Mark Richardson.
The latest addition to the Herd, their fifth signing so far this summer, is set to be a centreman on one of the top two scoring lines of the team.
The 21-year-old from Swindon played last season for the Nottingham Panthers, where he was part of their Challenge Cup winning side.
If not for injury, Richardson would have ended up as the Panthers top goal scoring Brit, but he did managed to hit the net in his last two games against the Bison and certainly turned in an impressive performance when last in the Basingstoke Arena.
Back to full fitness at the end of the year, he netted four times on his last eight games.
Before a year in the Lace City, Bison's new signing was in Cardiff for a couple of campaigns and each year picking up some silverware winning the British Knockout Cup and Challenge Cup.
Bison head coach Ryan Aldridge is pleased with his latest capture and said: "I saw him play in the play-off game in Cardiff for Nottingham at the end of last season and he was their best players.
"He had a tough season last year and now wants to prove to people what he can do. He is a true professional on and off the ice. The first one on at training and the last man off."
Richardson is excited about the up coming season as he looks to get his place back in the Great Britain senior side having been a member of the World Championship team in 2007.
He said: "I want this to be my break out year points wise and I am sure I can do that with the Bison. I guess ever year Basingstoke are written off, but Aldy is building a hard working team and I think we will surprise a few people this season."
