Forthcoming Weekend Preview
25th of September 2009
League Champions next for Bison

Reigning English Premier Champions Peterborough Phantoms are next up for the Bison on Saturday night, in another exciting looking league clash at the Basingstoke Arena.

In fact the Phantoms won the EPL Grand Slam last season, so this will once again be another big examination for the new-look Herd.

However, they came through their last test with flying colours last Sunday, with an
excellent win at hotly tipped title contenders Guildford Flames.

So Phantoms beware, confidence in the camp is high, as the Bison look to stampede to their first home EPL victory.

Peterborough will also be eager for success, as they arrive in Basingstoke on the back of two defeats on the opening weekend.

Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “For sure they will want to get the win having not won last weekend. Our job is to build on our performance in Guildford and keep on winning especially in front of our own fans.”

“We played a great team game against the Flames and Ondrej (Lauko) is on fire right now for us.”

He added: “Peterborough have had to make changes this year, but have brought in some good hockey players and I still see them as a top five side. So it's another big game for us.”

The action in what is sure to be a fast and furious clash gets underway at 6.30pm. Doors opening an hour earlier so make sure you get your ticket today from the box office on (01256) 355266.

On Sunday night, the Bison make their first trip to Essex for many years to take on the Romford Raiders, who like the Phantoms suffered a winless opening weekend.

So that will make them even more keen to put the Herd to the sword at Rom Valley Way, in a game which has a 5.15pm face-off.

Basingstoke boss Moria knows his side will have to battle hard if they are take away the points and said: “It certainly is a tough place to play and somewhere if you are not careful you can find yourself going two or three goals behind. We have to make sure that does not happen if we are to get something out of the game.”
