THE FORWARD line of Ollie Bronnimann, Nicky Chinn and Ondrej Lauko did all the damage on Saturday night as the Bison beat the Sheffield Scimitars 4-3 in overtime.
Praising his offensive unit, player/coach Steve Moria said: “The line of Chinn, Bronnimann and Lauko dominated every time they were on the ice tonight which was good to see.”
The trio would have scored more than the four they did on the night if it was not for Sheffield goalie Pasi Raitanen and Basingstoke captain Chinn said: “Pasi is a great goalie. If it was not for him tonight we would have won eight or nine one.”
Fellow forward Bronnimann, who bagged his first league brace of the season, added: “I have only scored a handful goals against Pasi. He leaves you an area to shoot and then takes it away. So I was pleased to score two goals tonight and the second one I just roofed it to make sure there was no way he was going to stop it.”
The victory keeps the Bison very much in the leading group and Bison boss Moria was pleased to see his side come back from 3-1 down.
He said: “Everyone has confidence in their team mates and of course it was frustrating as we had 59 shots and only scored four times, but Sheffield are a well organised side and played a strong defensive game.”
Another great plus for the Herd on Saturday night was that forward Jamie Line was back on the bench after an operation for a facial injury.
The Brit did not see any ice time, but was pleased to be back.
He said: “I am still a week away from playing, but I wanted to dress tonight and be on the bench and part of the team.”
The Bison produced another fine comeback in Bracknell last night, recovering from 3-0 down to win 4-3.
