An insiders view of the Bison Locker room by Sam Oakford & Andy Hemmings.
Well, what can we say, could we of got off to a better start!! Must be that yoga we are doing, not forgetting the great Scottish spin class lead by Mr. Basingstoke himself (Tosh).
The new look team are really starting to gel and everyone is getting on. It turns out we even signed a young Michael Owen, the fox in the box himself, Ondre Lauko!!!.
For myself, starting university has been a big change. Moving away from home for the first time has been pretty exciting, although I’m only 2 weeks in and I’m already missing the home cooking.
The course isn’t too bad either; I’ve even considered attending a couple of lectures!
Hemmer’s just started back at uni as well- his course seems even more part time than mine! He’s only in two days a week, so he’s got a lot of spare time to work on his golf swing, ready for this team Golf Day I’ve been hearing so much about.
Talking of the Golf Day, I think a few of the boys fancy themselves a bit on the course. There’s even been a fair bit of banter flying round about it as well. Hemmer seems to have called out Mo with this chirp- “Mo doesn’t look like the golfing type, but looks can be deceiving, you wouldn’t have thought he was 75 years old and still playing!”. It could be a tasty affair so watch this space!
We’ve really noticed the great atmosphere the fans have been providing for us. The noise makes it a tough place to come and play for the visiting team and it feels like we’re beginning to turn our home rink into a bit of a fortress.
Things should really start to click on the ice in the next couple of weeks so it’s exciting times in the Stoke.
We should also have our big man back in the next couple of weeks. 6-foot-9 Jamie Line looks to have made a speedy recovery and we all can’t wait to have him back on the ice.
The spark and energy he brings to the team will be a huge boost for us when he returns.
