It's Basingstoke Bison v Coventry Blaze in the final of the Knockout Cup after Bison were successful on the road in Hull in a game that was still in the balance until late on.
For Stingrays their season long struggle on the powerplay came to haunt them big time in this game as they scored only once on nine opportunities and with Bison more clinical in front of the net there was no denying the victory for the Hampshire side.
As in all three periods the home side had the majority of the shots but fell behind to a goal after only 1.55 with Bison player/coach Ryan Aldridge (6th of the season) the scorer. Dave Phillips (3rd) levelled at 14.59 but Bison were back in front at 15.58 with Eric Braff (5th) finding the net.
Stingrays again dominated the shot count in the second period, outshooting Bison by 16 to 5 but finding the way to goal only a single time but it did tie the game when Phillips (4th) grabbed his second at 38.40 on a 2-man advantage. The scoreline remained unchanged until Bison edged ahead again at 49.30 thanks to Danny Stewart (25th) and this time they went on to add to their lead at 53.05 with a goal from Greg Owen (25th) on a delayed penalty call. Owen's gaol was the insurance and the icing was added by Greg Chambers (32nd) firing into the empty net with 59 seconds remaining.
