Thursday night will see the Basingstoke Bison look to get back to winning ways in their own barn, when the Peterborough Phantoms are in town, for the first game in the brand new Planet Ice Shield.
The new competition will see the Herd, Phantoms and Milton Keynes Lightning do battle for this trophy.
The Bison will be eager to start their shield campaign with a victory, especially as the first showdown is at home, with the action stating at 8pm.
The Herd come into the game having lost their last two home games in thrillers against Guildford and Milton Keynes.
Looking ahead to the Phantoms’ visit Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: "We will be going out to win and being one of our two games at home, it makes it that much more important that we do."
The Herd will be without Kurt Reynolds due to broken finger suffered in the win at Swindon last Saturday and Scott Spearing is still ruled out with a knee injury.
This is a non season ticket game and tickets are priced at reduced rate of £9 for adults, £6.30 for concession and £5 for a child.
They are available from box office and can be purchased by person or by ringing the box office on (01256) 355266.
The away game in the shield against Milton Keynes has now been finalised with the Herd playing in Mk on Wednesday 9th December 2009 - Face off 7.30pm.
The game versus Peterborough Phantoms will be confirmed shortly.
