Basingstoke with only one win in their last six games went into this one knowing that Edinburgh are now breathing down their neck for that final elusive play off spot. As for Cardiff they had not won a league game in 14. In the end it was the Devils who came out on top to end their barren run. As for the Bison they will now be looking even more nervously over their shoulder.

The only goal of the opening period came the way of the visitors as Sylvain Deschatelets (19th of the season) netted at 3.35.

The middle session saw the visitors out shoot their opponents 2-1 but couldn't make their dominance count as the teams traded goals. The Devils doubled their lead at 23.00 with a goal from player/coach Gerad Adams (6th) with the Bison replying at 34.47 as Greg Chambers (31st) found the net.

It was deep into the game before the Devils made the game secure Gerard Adams (7th) with his second of the game at 55.34. This was followed by a goal in the last minute as Sylvain Deschatelets (20th) hit the empty net at 59.19 to give him his second of the game and his team their first win in 15 league games.
