Mo's Mumblings
12th of November 2009
From a coaching and playing standpoint, we played very well last weekend. There were a lot of positive aspects to our play against both Romford and Guildford. We were very unfortunate to lose the game against the Flames last Sunday. Although Guildford had the better start, winning the opening period, we battled hard throughout and eventually assumed control of the game in the second period. Scoring chances were numerous but our conversion rate was low. Joe, Chinny, Hemmer and I had great chances to score but we couldn’t find a way to get that elusive third goal. My thoughts were wrong as I really believed that we would tie the game at 3-3 and send the game into overtime.

Tom Long has had a difficult weekend and is still trying to recuperate from his sickness. I hope that each day he will get stronger and be ready to play hard this weekend. Tyrone Miller’s debut with the Bison showed his defensive strengths. His sharpness and decision making contributed to a strong overall game.

This weekend we play in Swindon and at home against Slough. Swindon are a team who are struggling with confidence at the moment. But as we all know, one good game can change that mentality. We will have to be 100% focused and hopefully we can get on the board early in the game.

On the other hand, Slough are a team brimming with confidence. They are probably the hottest team at the moment. Winning by large margins in Milton Keynes and in Manchester definitely turned a few heads around the League. It is no surprise that the Jets are competing at the top as they have always been one of the top teams in the EPL.

Without Tony Redmond, Kurt Reynolds and Scott Spearing again this weekend, we will all have to step up to win hockey games. Some of our younger players are relishing the opportunity of getting more icetime and having greater responsibility. Players like Andy Hemmings, Jamie Line and Sam Zajac are guys who fit into this category, and playing great hockey.

See you on the weekend, go Bison!
