Planet Ice Shield Game Review
19th of November 2009
Phantoms 4 Bison 3

Bison beaten by late winner

By Graham Merry

PETERBOROUGH Phantoms Maris Ziedins scored the game winning goal nine seconds from time, to help his side to a 4-3 victory, in their Planet Ice Shield encounter over the visiting Basingstoke Bison on Wednesday night.

The Herd were minus a number of key players and trailed 2-0 after two period as James Knight scored twice.

However, the character of the Basingstoke team shone through and Steve Moria tied the game, only for Knight to complete his hat-trick on the powerplay.

The Herd hit back two minutes from time thanks to Andy Hemmings’ shorthanded marker, only for Ziedins to net an even later winner.

Both netminders the Bison’s Tom Annetts and Phantoms Damien King picked up the man-of the-match awards See Monday’s Gazette for a full report.
