In an important League and Cup game against the Slough Jets on Sunday, we just fell short of success. We battled hard and competed well in all areas. We are all upset that results are not going our way. It hurts me to say this but with 3 or 4 or 5 players out of the lineup, we are not one of the strongest teams in the League.
However, when we are fully fit I believe that we are. In the meantime we need to find ways to win these close games and tonight against Peterborough we will need the same commitment and work ethic that we had last Sunday. Peterborough went into Guildford on Sunday and came away with a 3-2 win. A 3-2 win for the Bison on Saturday would be alright with me!
Ondrej Lauko, Nicky Chinn, Tyrone Miller and Chris Wiggins missed last night’s Planet Ice Shield game. I hope to have most of these guys back playing on the weekend.
In all of my years playing hockey in Britain, I have never known of any team to suffer with so many injuries at one time. On a positive note, Scott Spearing played last night and I hope that he came through the game without any setbacks. Tony Redmond and Kurt Reynolds are getting closer to their comebacks as well!
As a coach, I want all of my players back playing, but we have to make sure that they are not risking further injury by returning to play too early.
Don’t forget the Bison Bowlfest on November 25th at 730 pm. We should have everyone attending from the Bison team barring any unforeseeable circumstances.
See you on the weekend, go Bison!
