Bison look to continue home rule

The Basingstoke Bison will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent home record against the Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday in an English Premier League clash.

The Basingstoke Arena has not been a happy hunting ground for the reigning league champions so far, as they have already suffered two losses in the Hampshire home of the Herd.

Rest assured the Bison will be going out to stampede to another victory on Saturday, when the action gets underway at 6.30pm.

This game comes just three days after the teams met at Peterborough in their second Planet Ice Shield clash. The Phantoms were keen to take advantage of a depleted Bison line-up and gain some revenge for the 9-2 defeat last month and did that winning 4-3.
Saturday could well be just as close as the Phantoms have added British players Warren Tait, James Knight and James Ferrara, since their opening league/cup meeting which was a 2-1 loss.

The Bison who battled so gallantly last Sunday, before losing 4-2 to Slough, will once again be minus a number of players due to injury, but will have forward Scott Spearing back in their line-up.

Talking ahead of the Phantoms clash Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “I could not fault the effort showed by the players against Slough. If we recreate that work ethic then we deserve to get a result on Saturday. It is important for us to get as many points as we can at this difficult time of so many injuries. He added: “Peterborough have some good hockey players and should not be where they are in the table. They will come here looking to win we just to try and stop them doing that.”

Tickets are still available for what should be another great night at the Basingstoke Arena by contacting the box office on 01256 355266.

On Sunday, the Bison travel to South Yorkshire to take on the Sheffield Scimitars looking to avenge a 5-3 defeat in their building last time.

Moria said: “Ice Sheffield is always a difficult place to play, so we will go there knowing we will have to play a smart road game and if we are to come away with the points.”
