Bison look to maintain perfect derby record
The Basingstoke Bison will look to maintain their 100 per cent record against arch rivals Bracknell Bees when the sides clash for a third time on Saturday.
A big crowd is expected to pack into the Basingstoke Arena for this pre-Christmas cracker of the contest which starts at 6.30pm, as the visitors look to avenge a 12-0 defeat when last in town.
On that night, they were minus king pin Jaroslav Cesky, so this time around the derby battle will be a lot closer, so make sure you don’t miss out on what should a great game.
The Herd will be minus defenceman Sam Oakford as he is away with Great Britain under-20s in Hungary, but otherwise will have the same team that dished out an 8-2 thrashing of basement side Romford last week.
The league’s leading scorer Ondrej Lauko helped himself to a four goal haul against the Raiders and he will be hope to be on target in this week’s game, which the club are using to raise funds for Charlie’s Day Unit - a pioneering facility for children at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
Talking ahead of the latest Bison Bees clash, Basingstoke player/coach Steve Moria said: “It is essential that we win as this is our only game of the weekend. Bracknell have improved a lot since we last played them and for sure they will be coming into our building looking for a victory.”
The Bison boss is also fully aware that Bracknell import Cesky could have a big say in the outcome of the contest and said: “He is a great player and a key one for Bracknell and he will do a lot of damage if we let him.”
