Forthcoming Weekend Preview
24th of December 2009
Bison look for maximum weekend

The Basingstoke Bison will look to end the year on a high with a four point weekend, as they face the Swindon Wildcats at home on Boxing Day, before travelling to Romford Raiders on Sunday.

Saturday’s showdown with the Swindon which starts at 6.30pm should be a Christmas cracker of an encounter as the Herd look to avenge an overtime defeat when these teams last locked horns.

The ‘Cats of course are coached by former Bison player/coach Ryan Aldridge and he will be keen once again to beat his ex team.

The Herd will welcome back for the clash, Sam Oakford fresh from winning gold in Hungary for Great Britain under-20s and captain Nicky Chinn from injury, but they will be minus import Joe Ciccarello.
Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “It will good to have Sam ad Nicky back in our line-up, but Joe has had to fly back to Canada as his father is not very well and our best wishes go with him.

“Against Swindon, we have to come out strong from the opening face-up and look to build up an early lead. That will key if we are going to win the hockey game.”

Tickets are still available for what should be another great night for all the family from the box office on 01256 355266.

On Sunday (5.15pm face off), the Bison travel to Romford with Slovak sniper Ondrej Lauko looks to add to his tally of 10 goals so far this season against the Essex side.

The Bison leading scorer has bagged a hat-trick in the previous three victories over the Raiders and is likely to play a big part if the Herd are to win this weekend at Rom Valley Way.

Despite their lowly position, Moria is taking nothing for granted and said: “Every game in Romford this season has been tight for the first two periods and you have to remember they have beaten Manchester twice in their own building.”
