Saturday: Bison maul Wildcats on home ice
By Graham Merry
THE BASINGSTOKE Bison made sure their fans continued to enjoy their Christmas, as they cruised to 6-1 victory over the visiting Swindon Wildcats on Boxing Day.
The Herd led by the only goal of the first period scored by Chris Wiggins. They then extended their lead thanks to strikes from Ondrej Lauko and Tony Redmond.
Swindon who had two goals disallowed for high sticks and the net being off its moorings, finally broke the shut-out of Bison man-of-the-match Davey Lawrence as Jozef Kohut scored.
The final session started with the Wildcats on the powerplay, but a great solo strike goal from Jamie Line shorthanded put the home side firmly in the driving seat.
It was then left to Steve Moria and Ollie Bronnimann to wrap up the scoring.

Sunday: Bison storm back to complete perfect weekend
By Graham Merry
THE Basingstoke Bison produced a brilliant comeback as they trailed by three goals, only to score seven unanswered to win at the Romford Raiders 7-3, to complete a four point weekend.
The home side got off to a dream start as their man-of-the-match Frankie Harvey scored after 55 seconds and then Dean Tonks doubled the advantage, before the first buzzer.
That not to say the Bison did not have their chances in the opening 20 minutes, but netminder Joe Myers was in great form.
The Raiders then made it 3-0 from Dallas Costanzo, only for the Bison to finally break their duck within a minute from Tony Redmond.
The Herd reduced the home side’s lead to one thanks to a shorthanded goal from man-of-the-match Steve Moria, after being set-up by Ondrej Lauko.
The final period as in their previous visit to Rom Valley Way belonged to the Bison as once again they hammered in five goals without reply.
Mindy Kieras got the first to tie the game and then Bison captain Nicky Chinn edged his side in front.
The goals were not coming thick and fast and the 7-3 scoreline was completed by Moria, Chris Wiggins and Redmond.
