Bison stars Steve Moria, Scott Spearing and Davey Lawrence have signed up to participate in a gruelling three day cycling challenge this summer to raise money for charity.
Basingstoke’s very own Lance Armstrong, Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will be taking part in their version of the Tour de France that begins in London and concludes across the channel in Paris.
Their journey will start out in London on the 22nd July, then across the channel on a route with a route taking in quiet picturesque villages as the trio, who will be joined by 750 other riders, cycle down the long and winding country roads incorporating some of the best scenery France has to offer.
The challenge lasts three days and covers over 300 miles and on the final day they will get the chance to emulate Armstrong and all the other greats as they cycle through the Paris streets, around the Arc de Triomphe, down the Champs-Elysées and on to the Eiffel Tower, on some of the roads used for the Tour de France.
The next day they will get the chance to see how the pros do it as they’ll have the opportunity to catch the conclusion of the Tour as it hits the Champs-Elysées for the final sprint.
And it’s all for a good cause too, with money being raised for Action Medical Research, a children's charity dedicated to improving the health of babies and children in the UK.
The charity has been behind numerous breakthroughs, such as the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning and more recently the fetal heart rate monitor, a state-of-the-art device that could save thousands of at-risk babies.
Fans can get involved in the challenge by sponsoring Steve, Scott and Davey, and it is hoped they will be joined by some of their Bison team-mates. And if they are, you’ll be able to find out who signs up right here on the website.
