With the cancelled game last Sunday, we decided to have a 3 on 3 scrimmage amongst ourselves. After much hype about the supposed skill levels of Lawrence and Annetts, I decided to let both of these guys play “out”, whilst Oakford and Long donned the monkey suits and played in goal. I think that it is safe to say that Longer is not or will not be the 3rd keeper for the Bison. Tommy and Davey showed that they can play and each potted a couple of goals in a 17-16 thriller!
Winning in Swindon last weekend meant that we have won 4 of our last 5 games. It was a very good team performance away from home. We competed hard throughout the 60 minutes and fought our way to the overtime victory. It was an important win and two points to keep us in 5th spot and in contention for a higher position.
Tonight, we need to come out flying, getting pucks behind their D and forechecking like pitbulls! It is crucial to limit Krajicek’s involvement tonight. It will be the centre’s responsibility to force him to move the puck in the neutral zone. Whilst on the subject of big Dmen, the way that Mindy is shooting the puck right now, we just have to get him the puck! There is a fair amount of velocity when those pucks are shot!
We should have Joe back in the lineup tonight which will immediately give us more attack options. We have only scored 6 goals in the last 9 periods of regulation hockey. Fortunately we have been playing well defensively winning 2 of those games.
I want to make a sustained effort into increasing the numbers in the school zone. We have extended the schools programme to clubs and groups, so if anyone knows of any sports groups or cubs, scouts, brownies etc that may be interested in attending our games at a reduced price (whilst also earning cashback for their organisation) please contact us at bisonschoolsprogramme@yahoo.co.uk
