The impressive home form of the Basingstoke Bison will face a red-hot test on Saturday night when local rivals Guildford Flames come to town.
The Herd have not been beaten at home in the past two months, but face a Flames side currently on a 10 game winning streak.
So this has makings of a great clash, as it was when these teams last met in Basingstoke.
On that occasion, the match went all the way to a penalty shoot-out as Guildford enjoyed the win thanks a Nathan Rempel winner.
Last weekend, Guildford completed a double over title rivals Manchester winning 9-2 and 8-7, which was another penalty shot win with new signing Canadian Adrian Saul being their hero this tine around.
The Bison themselves also celebrated a double success as they beat Swindon 4-3 in front of their biggest home crowd of the season 1,260 and then won in Essex against Romford 7-5.
Talking ahead of the Saturday’s big clash Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: "Guildford are scoring goals for fun at the moment hitting eight and nine at a time, so we know we are going to have to play a smart defensive game to stop them.
“Last Saturday against Swindon the first two periods were superb and if we can play like that for three periods against Guildford, then I see no reason why we cannot win the hockey game.”
The action on Saturday, gets underway at 6.30pm and if previous games are anything to go by it will be another barn storming match which will keep the expected bumper crowd on the edge of their seats right to the final buzzer
The Firefighters Charity will be at the game to try and help the Bison put out the Flames.
Also a fire engine will be parked outside the front of the ice rink from 4.30pm until 5.30pm.
Tickets are still available for the game, by calling the box office on (01256) 355266, so book now to save missing out on another great night at the Basingstoke Arena.
On Sunday evening (face-off 6pm) the Bison travel to Bracknell for their first visit to the Hive since early October.
This season Basingstoke have won every encounter and in league meetings over the past 21 years between the sides the score is now tied at 17 wins apiece, with one game drawn.
So the Bison will be keen to earn the bragging rights over their Berkshire rivals for the first time in the club’s history, but to do this they will have to stop the leading scorer Jaroslav Cesky.
Moria said: "It has been a while since we were last in Bracknell and they are playing well at the moment, so it is not going to be easy. For sure we have to stop Cesky as 70 per cent of their offence comes through him so he will be a key player in this game."
