This week Greg Chambers, Greg Owen and Greg Wood have been away with the GB team in Europe. I am sure they did well and we look forward to them being back this coming weekend. We really don't want to be known as the Bison Seven!

Greg Wood was called up at the last minute and showed Paul Thompson what a good decision that was by putting in his best performance of the season in Coventry on Sunday evening.

I know that it seems we have little to show for the weekend, but I was really pleased with the way the guys came back to their best against the League leaders. They found that jump that seems to have been missing in the few games before this.

Coventry, of course, will capitalise on even the smallest error and must have been relieved that they were able to pull back against us twice before taking the game by a single goal. The game could have gone either way. Curtis Cruickshank thoroughly deserved yet another man of the match award.

We had hoped for a better result in the Cup match on Saturday against Hull. Steve Thornton was really pleased to be back competing on the ice. The trouble with his wrist persists, though, so he'll be taking further advice this week.

I know a lot of you were angry about the delay of game call we received. It was clear to all of us that the puck had struck the boards, but you're going to get bad calls in any game. Of more concern to me was that the call was made by the linesman, a point we stressed when discussing the game afterwards with the referee.

But we look forward to the second leg with confidence, just as we look forward to battling for more league points this weekend. If you're thinking of coming along on Saturday night to see the game against Manchester, make sure you get your ticket in time. We have hundreds of school children already buzzing with excitement about the prospect of seeing their first live game.

Join the Stampede. See you all for another great Hockey Night in Basingstoke.
